Blind Pass Dredging, 5-26-09

This is the Gulf side of Blind Pass. They took down most of the containment cell and are making some progress. It was pretty loud today and that was just from 1 Dredge, the other one is broken. I can imagine when they both are running at the same time. There was also a smell of diesel exhaust in the air blowing toward Captiva. It’s the 1st time I’ve noticed it since the project started.

Blind Pass Dredging Project #2, 7-30-09

This is the Blind Pass dredging project taken from the rock jetty on Turner Beach. They are dredging from the Gulf upto the stell wall. On August 1st the wall is supposed to be removed and water will finally flow from the Gulf to Pine Island Sound again

Blind Pass Dredging, Gulf Side, 4-23-09

This is the dredging operation on the Gulf side of the Blind Pass Bridge. They still have quite away to go and a lot of material to truck away. They are supposed to be finished by July 8th.

Blind Pass, 11-09-09

Today we stopped at Blind Pass to check out the waves. There is a high surf advisory in effect due to Tropical Storm Ida out in the Gulf.
