Is the Penn Captiva CV2 4000 reel any good?

I’m interested in surf-fishing and fresh/salt water fishing. Going after Stripped Bass and Surfperch and occasionally Rockfish. Fishing areas will mostly be around the Bay Area delta and beaches.

It’s a bit expensive so I’m also looking for any cheaper alternatives that will provide the same quality. Let me know if you have any suggestions?

Tarpon Fishing : Captiva Island

Tarpon I hooked off of Captiva Island. It got off before we could get it to the boat, but was estimated around 100 lbs, somewhat small. It was acting really weird, it barely jumped.

Florida, More than Oranges and Alligators

Thrill seekers, hikers, campers and history buffs will all find what they are looking for in Florida family vacation destinations. Children can visit with their favorite Disney characterâ??s while grandparents can stroll along secluded beaches. Families can plan a vacation to include many activities that will please everyone and provide lifelong memories of that special vacation.

The Gulf coast of Florida offers many unique locations for family vacation fun. There are many state parks along the western edge of Florida. Including Crystal River Preserve, Homosassa Springs, Weeki Wachee and more the further south you go.

You can dive with manatees near Crystal River or walk the Native American mounds at Crystal River Archeological Park. If those do not interest you fishing and scuba diving are available at most parks along the Gulf Coast.

Children can pretend to be pirates for a day at Captain Memoâ??s Pirate cruise near Clearwater. The Clearwater Aquarium, a non profit organization, has special exhibits that allow the public to touch sting rays and starfish. Pier 60 near St. Petersburg has street performers and salt water fishing.

Special visits to gulf islands including Sanibel and Captiva offer miles of beaches for children to explore with activities geared especially for them.

The East coast offers glimpses into Floridaâ??s rich historic past. Fort Clinch, Fort George and Yellow Bluff Fort, and Amelia Island are a few of the historic parks that can be found on the east coast.

If big ships and military aircraft interest you Jacksonville Naval Air base and Mayport Naval station has just what you want.

As you head south down the east coast you will find Tomoka State Park, Seabranch Preserve and St. Lucie Inlet Preserve.

Space enthusiasts wonâ??t want to miss a visit to the Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral. Cocoa Beach historic village will delight history buffs while ardent shoppers will want to stop at Ron Jonâ??s Surf Shop.

Heading inland, you will find Orlando. Orlando is home to Walt Disney World East. What child would want to pass up an opportunity to visit their favorite Disney character?

Just a few miles away you will find Gatorland. What started as a road side stand has turned into a 110 acre nature preserve and theme park. You will have the opportunity to see reptiles up close, learn about their habits and afterwards take a dip in the ¼ acre water park.

Some of the most remarkable areas in Florida are the Keys. Located off the tip of the peninsula, these strings of islands offer beaches of unparalleled beauty. Sailing, kayaking and water sports are among the activities you will find there.

Florida, the sunshine state, has something to offer to everyone.

Bull Shark at Captiva, Florida

This bull shark was caught by a fisherman on the Captiva beach in front of the Mucky Duck on 12/24/08. It took about an hour to reel in, right at sunset. It survived and swam away healthily
